Brainz by ajeffects Brainz by ajeffects
At the start of the year I modelled this Brain robot for some practice. I used the amazing concept art by Darren Bartley as reference (view Here).  At the time I was quite busy and never got to take the model to completion. Finally after a long wait, 7 or so months, I decided to complete the model and this is the final result.

I used Maya for modelling and editing, Zbrush for sculpting the brain, Mudbox for painting the textures and Mentalray for rendering. In the end I had 8x8k texture maps and the renders took a night to render.

I used After Effects to do the post work as it has a non-destructive workflow. I also used magic bullet looks to colour grade the image.

Thanks for viewing.

Very good job and a beautiful render! Only those little stones of the floor make the picture look a little artificial.

I absolutely agree, though rendering the image took close to10hrs so not very keen to make the changes.

But thanks for the feedback and I'll make sure I don't make that mistake again ;)
